Summer office hours are Monday through Friday 8:00 AM to Noon! 



The year, as many of them do, has all but disappeared in front of us.  Our 8th graders have graduated, as well as our Kindergarten class of 2018.   It is beginning to get a little quieter within these walls, and when Thursday rolls around, it will be mostly silent.  It is a time of transition for many, including myself and others.  I would like to thank you for a memorable seven years.  Years of being able to watch your children grow and mature, of being able to play and sing and learn with them, of sharing a laugh and sometimes a tear, but mostly of being able to pray with them; to a God who loves us unconditionally.   There is no comparison to the joy it brings when we are able to solidify that with our children.    Thank you to all the parents and parishioners who have extended their best wishes.  They are very much appreciated!  I leave knowing that all changes are made good in God’s eyes.  Keep the faith, Love today, and have no fear!  Have a beautiful and safe summer!

Thank you to our parents who have offered to help out for the day.  Students may come in their field day attire.  Please no tank tops or sleeveless shirts.  T-shirts are great for the day.  It is going to be warm, so send with sun screen applied.  We also have sun screen here if needed.  Thank you for the donation!  Shorts can be athletic shorts, but of an appropriate length.  Lunch is provided tomorrow!!  It will be a busy and fun day full of exercise!!


Awards for 1st grade through 7th grade will be given out on May 24th (our last day) after the school Mass.  Parents please join us if you are able.


St. Michael will hold a Corpus Christi procession on Sunday, June 3, following the 11:10 A.M. Mass.  The students who received their First Holy Communion will be able to wear their special dresses/suits and join in the procession, and altar boys can also be part of this procession. The procession is honoring the real presence of the Holy Body (corpus) of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Thank you and God bless your families.


Report cards for Kindergarten through 8th grade will be mailed out.  Report cards will be held if money is still owed to the school.  This would include tuition, lunch accounts, library books, extended daycare, book fines, and any outstanding sports equipment that haven’t been turned in.  Lunch account reminders are going out today – please remember that there are still three days left of hot lunch between now and the end of the school year when putting money into accounts. 

When accounts are taken care of, report cards can either be picked up at the school office during summer office hours, or will be mailed out.  If you have any questions regarding accounts, please contact the school office. 




Dear St. Michael’s Families,

I would like to inform you that I will not be returning to St. Michael’s School next year. You have been so welcoming to me and complementary of my work in the classroom and on programs. I adore the students and will miss them greatly. I wish you a wonderful summer and many musical endeavors in the future.

Congratulations to St. Michael students – Natalie Oorlog and Adeline Digman for their winner entries in the Pro-life Poster contest this year, where the theme was “God’s Masterpiece”.  Their entries were submitted with many others all throughout the Diocese and their posters were selected as winners!!

KFOR Summer Fun Punch Tickets

The Summer Fun Punch tickets are a great bargain for families.  Each ticket costs $5.00 and it has all sorts of sweet bargains on it.  All money from ticket sales stays right here at school!  If interested  in purchasing tickets, they will be available starting Friday, May 4 in the school office.  Stop by or send your money to the office in an envelope marked “KFOR Tickets”.  We will have them available until May 24th.   




$25,118.74 was the total that the Warrior Walk brought in this year.  That is almost $8,000.00 more than the previous year!  We can’t thank all of our supporters enough.  This will purchase at least one Ipad cart with 30 Ipads and chargers.  Thank you ever so much!! 



With the change of weather, please remember that we will accept gently used uniforms.  Please drop off all donations to the school office.  These donations are sold at the annual used uniform sale this summer at St. Michael’s.  Your donations are greatly appreciated! 



Uniform try on is scheduled for July 22nd and 23rd at Blessed John XXIII.  Both days will be from 10am until 6pm. 

Dennis Uniform will be bringing all sizes and extra stock so parents may purchase and take items with them. If they do not happen to have items there, Dennis Uniform will order them and give parents free shipping.  This is the only try on that St. Michael has set up for the Fall of 2018.  Parents are also able to go online and order at  or go directly to their store in Omaha. 



Mr. Florian and Mrs. Krings will be offering a Summer Literacy Program from July 23 through August 3rd  that will help keep children connected to literacy skills over the summer.  The program is open to children who are entering 1st through 6th grades and is free.  Space is limited, so if interested please contact Mrs. Krings for grades 1st through 3rd at or Mr. Florian for grades 4th through 6th at .  See attached note from Mr. Florian.  Dates are the same for Mrs. Krings.

Every BODY Matters – Parents and Teachers, do you have a tough time answering your children’s questions about their bodies in light of today’s culture?  Join us to hear international speaker Monica Ashour present stories, statistics, and objectives about good choices that prepare students for healthy, whole, and harmonious lives. The concepts she shares will help you form your children, grades PreK-8, in their identity and dignity as human persons as well as to successfully navigate their way in a culture that creates confusion about the body.  Day and evening sessions available June 20-22 in Lincoln.   Visit for more details.



The on-line application is now available for Pius X students/parents to apply for tuition assistance/scholarships for the 2018-2019 school year. Tuition assistance will be awarded in late summer and recipients notified prior to the start of school in August.


The application can be accessed through the Pius X website at  The deadline to apply is Thursday, May 31. The application is available in both English and Spanish.  Please select Development/Support, Scholarships and then “Click here to apply for tuition assistance/scholarships.”


Parents or students who need assistance due to language barriers or computer access are encouraged to contact the Guidance Department at (402) 488-0931 or the Pius X Foundation at (402) 488-1046. We are here to help!


There is a $30 application fee when submitting the online application. Each family is asked to pay half of this cost or $15.00, which can be paid by credit or debit card. Pius X will cover the remaining $15.00 fee. The majority of the scholarships are based on financial need.


Parent(s) or guardian(s) wanting to be considered for tuition assistance based on financial need must complete the FACTS Grant & Aid assessment section of the online application. They will need their 2017 Income Tax Return to complete the application. All information provided is kept confidential. Upon completion, parents/guardians  will mail or fax the supporting documentation to FACTS. The tax information needed to verify the application will be shown in the FGAA Checklist that is found online. If someone is only applying for non-financial need scholarships, this portion of the application does not need to be filled out.

We are again offering a website for those of you who would like to get a jump start on ordering school supplies for this fall.  Just click on the grade level for your child to see what is needed.  Note:  If you order during May 1-June 17, you will receive a 5% discount; however, you may order at any time after that.  No matter when you order, 5% always goes back in cash to St. Michael.  All orders are delivered to your house, and you can order a whole list or just certain things off your child’s list.  No matter how big or small the order – we thank you for the support. 



A few weeks ago, a brochure was sent home with Prek through 1st  grade students explaining about a research program that is available for parents to consider.  The research is being conducted by Dr. Alexandra Twyman from UNL and has been approved by the Diocesan office for participation.  If parents are interested in their student participating in this program there is a flyer attached for your consideration. 




Lost and Found is overflowing!  Please see if any of the items belong to your child.  The table is located in the commons, outside the school office.  Items must be claimed by May 24th.  After that, they will be donated to CSS or Goodwill.

A HUGE thank you to all of our parents for helping decorate and prepare for the Kindergarten promotion.  We are very appreciative of you!! 



All 6th grade students are required by the State of Nebraska to have a physical exam, DPT booster, two doses of the varicella vaccine, and immunizations record by a qualified physician within six months prior to the entrance into 7th grade.  You are now able to schedule these appointments and be within that timeline.  It would be prudent to call for an appointment sooner than later as those physical appointments fill up quickly.  A copy of your student’s physical and a complete list of immunizations from your provider is due in the school office before the first day of school which is Thurs. August 16. 




If you plan to participate in sports at St. Michael next year as an 8th grader, you will need a current physical turned in to the office prior to participation in the sport.  (Student’s 7th grade physical does not qualify.)  Please schedule in the physicals as soon as possible to avoid all appointments being taken.  Students are not able to participate in practices until a current physical is on file. 



Our preschool information for the 2018- 19 school year was attached on last week’s note and we are accepting registrations.

Is scheduled for the week of June 11 – 15 2018 for grades 1st – 8th, and June 10th – 14th for High school students.  We are hoping for a record group of students to attend this week and learn all about the Creed and the Luminous Mysteries.  A registration form is available on the St. Michael website.  We are in need of the following from volunteers for the week. 

One more host couple for the week starting June 9 through the 15.  A team of two will stay with you for bed and breakfast. 

Volunteers to host supper at your home, starting on Sunday, June 10.

Volunteers to bring cookies for cookie break – must be store bought and Nut safe. 

High school volunteers to help with cookie break and recess/other areas.  – think Senior service hours!

Volunteers to bring in lunch for the Totus Tuus team of 4.

The 22nd annual Bryan Health Kids’ Health and Safety free event will be held on Friday, June 22, at Haymarket Park prior to a Lincoln Saltdogs baseball game, with pregame activities from 4:30-6:45pm.  Lots of fun activities for kids along with over 30 exhibitors with interactive health and safety activities.  Free general admission (berm) or reserved $6 seats.  Game time 7:05pm.  Get more information here
