A huge thank you to all parents and guests who were able to join us for the School Family Association Meeting and Academic Fair on Tuesday evening.  What an amazing night for all.  I am truly blessed and so is our School.  Blessings!  Mrs. Ray

 

5A and 5B had 100% parent participation at the SFA meeting and get to split the MS. PIGGY money for the classroom! 

 

April 27th will be a no uniform day for students in reward for reaching the $5000.00 Scholastic Book Fair goal!!  It will also be the day that was given out by Principal Thomas which allows students to bring in a stuffed animal for the day.  All students will also get ice cream at lunch!!

WARRIOR WALK INFORMATION

We are off to a great start!   Our second turn in date is this Friday, April 20 so please bring in your donation.  You can wear your uniform bottoms with your Warrior Walk T-shirt if you turn in a new donation on Friday April 20.  Our last turn in date will be April 27. 

-A student who turns in $75.00 will get an Emoji keychain, animal slime ball, balloon and one silly string.  (Balloon and silly string given out day of event). 

-Waiver forms are required for each child to participate on May 4.  Please return a form for each child.

-All the money raised will be used to purchase iPads and cart for the school.   Thank you so much for your support! 

 

CONGRATUALTIONS TO MRS. LAUREN WADE – OUR PRESCHOOL TEACHER

She and her husband, Malcolm,  are the proud parents of a new baby girl.  Charlotte Elizabeth was born yesterday, April 18.  She was all of 6 lbs. and 18 inches long.  All at St. Michael wish them the very best!! 

 

CALENDAR CHANGE -  Fr. Borowiak has approved May 11 as the Bishop’s Day off 2017.  Bishop Bruskewitz gave St. Michael students a free day when he celebrated our Feast Day with us on Sept. 28th.  There will be no school on May 11th. 

 

ROSARY CRUSADE 

Bishop James Conley is inviting your family to the HuskerCatholic Candle-lit Rosary on Sunday, April 29th @ 8:00 pm.  Join thousands of others in surrounding the University of Nebraska Lincoln campus to pray the Rosary for peace.  I have attached a parish map and a flyer for the event.  St. Michael’s has the goal of 200 people at the Rosary.  There is a 90 second video that Bishop Conley put together to promote the event on our website:    www.stmichaelmarauders.com

 

SPRING MUSIC CONCERTS

The Junior High concert is May 8 at 7:00 in the Commons

The 1st – 5th grade concert is May 15 at 7:00 PM in the gym

1st-5th Grade Parents:

Our Noah’s Ark Concert is coming up May 15th! Attached are two pdf documents labeled “Noah’s Ark” with information for the students to practice at home. One has the lyrics to the songs and the other is a sheet with instructions and a QR Code. Follow the directions on that sheet to access the music. Each song has two tracks: one with me singing and one just accompaniment. If you have questions please email me at Danielle-zimmerman@cdolinc.net.

SPRING BAND CONCERT 2018

Rehearsal Tuesday May 1st   5th grade   7:00-7:45  at Pius X High School

                                                 6th, 7th, and 8th grade  7:45-8:30   at Pius X High School

Concert Wednesday May 2nd   7:00 PM at Pius X High School

Students please wear your school uniform to the concert

Arrive to rehearsal and program 15 minutes prior to your start time.

Bring your own music stand.

KINDERGARTEN PROMOTION

Is Monday, May 21.  Kindergartners will come to Mass in the morning, and then there will be a promotion ceremony for them right afterwards.  After the ceremony, there is a short program and then a reception in the Concession/St. Sebastian Hall.  All parents and grandparents are invited to come and join us.  It is a wonderful way for us to celebrate our youngest scholars and disciples!! 

 

 

CK SISTERS OUTDOOR SPRING WORKDAY

–  Sat., May 5,1:00-4:30 p.m. We will be planting our vegetable garden and cleaning up flowerbeds, as well as cutting down trees.  Helpful items to bring include gloves, pruning shears, clippers, wheelbarrows, shovels, rakes, pickups, chain saws and energy!  Children are also welcome!  Mark your calendars now and contact Sister Mary Angela at sr.mary-angela@cdolinc.net if you would like to come and help. Villa Regina Motherhouse, 4100 SW 56th St., about 2 miles west and south of Pioneers Park.

 

SERVICE LOGS

All service logs for students in grades 1st through 8th need to be turned in by May 1, 2018 if students are to be recognized at the awards ceremony on May 24th.  Needed hours vary with the grade levels.  Please have students turn their logs into the classroom teacher.  Thank you!

 

8TH GRADE SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS

All 8th grade scholarship applications are due on April 30, 2018 by 3:30 in the school office or to Mr. Shulski.  Please make sure to follow directions completely and accurately.  All awarded scholarship money is paid directly to Pius X High School for the 2018-19 school year.  If you have questions please contact Mrs. Ray at the school 402-488-1313

 

 

SUMMER SOLUTIONS

Want to keep your students math skills sharp during the Summer?  Summer Solutions Math program is a great way to do that.  A flyer is attached that has information if interested.  Please note the deadline of April 29th.  Books will be shipped to the school and then handed out to families.  Go to www.summersolutions.net    Our school code is MIC68516    Each book is $12.00.   Book orders placed before May 1 are eligible to be in a drawing for a $250.00 Amazon Gift card. 

 

 

7th GRADE PARENTS

At this time, we are really in need of 7th grade students, plus a few parents to help serve at the reception.  If you can offer a few hours of your time from 6:00-9:00 pm, we would be very grateful.  7th grade parents help plan, decorate, set up, clean up, and serve the reception, that will be held on May 19th after the graduation Mass at 6:30.  All 7th grade students are asked to help in some capacity.  We appreciate the help! 

 

SIXTH GRADERS 

All 6th grade students are required by the State of Nebraska to have a physical exam, DPT booster, two doses of the varicella vaccine, and immunizations record by a qualified physician within six months prior to the entrance into 7th grade.  You are now able to schedule these appointments and be within that timeline.  It would be prudent to call for an appointment sooner than later as those physical appointments fill up quickly.  A copy of your student’s physical and a complete list of immunizations from your provider is due in the school office before the first day of school which is Thurs. August 16. 

 

 

PRESCHOOL INFORMATION

Our preschool information for the 2018- 19 school year was attached on last week’s note and we are accepting registrations.

Below are the options that we have open for the Fall of 2018-19

 

Full Day  8:00-3:15   4 /5 year olds      several openings

M-W-F  8:00-11:15 AM  ½ day for 4/5 year olds is FULL  - we will put you on a waiting list if you like. 

M-F  8:00-11:15  ½ day for 4/5 year olds – FULL – we will put you on a waiting list. 

T-Thurs.  8:00-10:45  ¾ year olds  - we have two places left. 

 

There is a registration fee to enroll for preschool, and we take registrations on a first come first serve basis.  If you have any questions please contact Jessica Hagedorn at jessica-hagedorn@cdolinc.net. 

 

 

STUDENT COUNCIL TALENT SHOW

What a great group of students and talents!!  The show was so much fun!!   This is just a friendly reminder that those students who participated in the Talent Show can come and watch the taped version tomorrow after school from 3:30 – 4:15 In the Music Room.  Parents, if you would like to come also, feel free!  We will have snacks available. Students will also be able to pick up their participation prize. If they are not able to come to the watch party, we will find another time to get them their prize.

 

 

TOTUS TUUS 2018

Is scheduled for the week of June 11 – 15 2018 for grades 1st – 8th.  Information and applications will be coming out in April.
